Out with the old, in with the new

If you’ve read my story, you’ll know that what initially established back in 2015 as Exhale Birth, then moved to Exhale Counselling & Wellbeing in 2019, was founded as a culmination of my own personal experiences, my education and my deep desire to facilitate an avenue for others to reach that place in your life where you can breathe again after experiencing emotional turmoil.  That state of mind where you feel that a weight has finally been lifted, and you are suddenly open to new experiences and possibilities.  This drive initially surrounded birthing parents who sought to extend the possibilities of their upcoming births, and my provision of doula services and childbirth education.  But over the years my practice has transformed to really dig deeper into helping others reach that state.  Last year saw my work expand further into seeing me fulfill that desire, with my business transforming into Exhale Counselling & Wellbeing, with the addition of counseling and birth debriefing services.

But the more I worked in this arena, the more I was seeing my clients confronted by issues that prevented them from reaching that place of “exhalation”. What was standing in their way? Why are you not giving yourself permission to step up and see the magic of possibility?   It slowly became clearer… isolation, fear of judgment, loneliness, and inadequacy. Experiencing isolation, fear of judgment, loneliness and inadequacy can form a dark place far from where I want you to be.  How can I lead you on a journey to wholeness so that you can breathe again?  By showing up as me and walking with you…

My brand no longer reflected me or this message.  It was the typical counselor “blank-canvas” image, calming colours, and plenty of jargon.  I wanted something that is ME.  Something that speaks loudly of my desire for human connection, perfect imperfection and raw authenticity.   Something that is a symbol of a journey that will engulf two souls and fill in the missing pieces.  Something that deflects loneliness and inadequacy, and embraces partnership and resolution.

And so this beauty was born… developed in collaboration with artist Lauren Beasley. One line, symbolizing the journey we will take together, as two perfectly imperfect humans coming together to unravel what needs to be overcome.  And two minds… one blue, a symbol of past avoidance, personal transformation and self-worth.  The throat chakra, voice, expression, communication.  And the other orange, symbolizing clarity, intuition and resoluteness.  The sacral chakra, partnership, connection, emotion.  It says so much more than I can explain here.
